During winter last year I used that heavy comforter, and another one which was way too hott then.
This comforter is thin, but very, very warm. Its the only comforter I am using right now, and can't believe how warm it is. When I unpacked it I thought I was going to be chilly cause its thin, but the feathers keep you warm. I am extremely satisfied with this product. I was looking at comforters about $20.00 cheaper, but bad reviews, and this one is perfect for $20.00 more.

It's soft! The thickness is less than expected even after 20 hours of laying out. The plastic smell subsides to nothing in roughly the same time. There is no noticeable noise when moving under this blanket which was the main reason I got the high thread count/cotton. It's not as thick as it shows in the picture, but it will keep you warm in all kinds of cold. However, it will keep you just as warm in warm weather (eg. in 70F, you will still remain at your core body temp [Quite warm]).
This was a good buy and worth the money. I wanted thicker, but that is just preference and I'm happy with the comforter. Yes, I'd buy it again and yes I'd recommend it to a friend whom isn't too concerned with thickness...
